2024-25 PTA BOARD
Liz Kinmartin hails from the Midwest (Yes, Wisconsin is the accent you're hearing) and has called Raleigh home for six years. She is a military spouse to a Reservist and mom of four, two of which attend Powell. She was our Powell PTA Treasurer during 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 school years. Liz loves traveling, sewing, trying new restaurants, and dad jokes. Fun fact: She is incapable of rolling her "r's."

Laura Kelly was born in Miami, FL, but moved to NC in middle school and considers NC home. She met her husband in high school and they have two daughters, a kindergartener, and a second grader. She works at a local hospital and enjoys gardening in her free time. She is looking forward to making a positive impact and helping our school thrive as VP. Laura believes we all have the ability to help our amazing school despite our busy and hectic schedules. If we all just do one thing, we can make a great impact.

Heather Garner is an avid NC State Wolfpack fan who grew up in Greensboro, NC. She and her husband met while at State and have called East Raleigh their home for 17 years. They have three children, a 9th grader at Enloe, a 7th grader at Ligon, and a 3rd grader at Powell. This is her family’s tenth year at Powell. Heather has served on the Powell PTA board for eight years, including four terms as president and two terms as treasurer. She is now serving her second term as a member at large. Heather enjoys working with the teachers and staff at Powell so much that she became a Wake County substitute teacher. She believes that public education is important and that the PTA should support all students at Powell.

Laura Bass is a North Carolina native who grew up attending Wake County schools and graduated from Elon University. She has three boys attending Powell this year. Laura served as the PTA secretary during the 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 school years and is also the yearbook committee chair. She works as a freelance writer and editor and loves reading, crafting, and spending time outside.
